99% of the time it's massive pandering (Woke Fate, Picard, JJ Abrams' Soy Wars)Old Black Man wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 10:47 amTrue, sometimes it works, other times it feels like massive pandering.

Re: Movie Thread
There’s no way 89 year old Indiana Jones swinging around fighting neo nazi or whatever won’t be the most depressing thing.
Re: Movie Thread
Remember when they were going to use Chris Pratt? That would have been a million times more entertaining than elderly grumps Indy and the fugly woke chick who destroyed Bond.
Re: Movie Thread
Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. The problem is, and they really should have learned this from the last movie that everyone hated, he's too old. It's time to let the series die

Halloween's a weird case where they mostly just seem to make family reunion movies.Old Black Man wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 4:38 amI think the studio saw how well Jamie Lee Curtis did in Halloween 2018
1988 - 10th anniversary, let's bring back Donald Pleasence and have Michael attack Haddonfield again
1998 - 20th anniversary, let's bring back Jamie Lee Curtis and have Michael chase her again(they also nearly got Carpenter to direct this one iirc)
2018 - 40th anniversary, bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis again AND have Michael attack Haddonfield again
and nothing every changes except the most minute details

That’s a solid analysis. I just wish they’d went with the proposed title of Halloween Returns, it fits better with Kills and Ends. I’m hoping the former will be awesome, the trailer looked decent.Rushy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 10:30 amHalloween's a weird case where they mostly just seem to make family reunion movies.Old Black Man wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 4:38 amI think the studio saw how well Jamie Lee Curtis did in Halloween 2018

Not counting the reboot that overexplains Micheal, as bad horror reboots are wont to do.
You say that now, but wait until he passes on his hat to his black female apprentice, after a most thrilling pulp adventure where the two discover that all ancient civilizations have been black, and that Yakub is real after all.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:00 amHarrison Ford is Indiana Jones.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: Movie Thread
Probably wanted to fool some younger viewers into thinking it's a brand-new thing, not a sequel to something made in medieval times.
One thing that drove me nuts about the 2018 film is that they were clearly trying to mimic Carpenter's aesthetic, but never let the tension build properly. It was like they paying lip service to his style instead of adopting it. It's weird that only Rick Rosenthal was able to accurately copy the way Carpenter made his films.

Well, he'd still be Indiana Jones...VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 10:42 amYou say that now, but wait until he passes on his hat to his black female apprentice, after a most thrilling pulp adventure where the two discover that all ancient civilizations have been black, and that Yakub is real after all.
I almost want them to do your movie idea. Because it would be laughably bad
