Reading the House of Cards trilogy atm. Much better than either of the shitty TV versions.

Interesting that FU doesn't get it all his own way in the books whereas in the Big Black Cock adaption he wins all the time. More notably both TV shows make him a cuck whereas in the books he's the only one fucking around.

Oh man, the 372 Pages treatment of Ready Player Two is hilarious.
I've been following then since the beginning.

As far as RP2 the ending is the stupidest twist I've seen in a long time.

If you gotta know...

These books are in first person. Wade had been building a spaceship with a mini Oasis and embryos to launch sometime in the future to search for another planet, because reasons.
Turns out the new headsets makes copies of people's brains so at the end of the book, the narrator wasnt the real Wade, but a copy that had been uploaded to the spaceship with millions of others and launched. Sometimes the real Wade and the copy communicate.

Has anyone ever bothered to explain why they called the first book "the holy grail of pop culture?" Isn't the holy grail a long-lost mythical artifact? Pretty sure at any time ever you could just walk into a book store and buy RPO. That's not a holy grail of anything.

They called it that way cause it was more shameless in using pop-culture references as opposed to actual content than any other book before it.

Cline's writing was notably negatively received. In his review for Wired, Katwala stated that "an AI could write a better book."
Seems that gimmick doesn't appear to be as enduring as capeshit movies.

This might be the most irritating book ever written.

Damn, M. Night wishes he could come up with something so hacky.
That's basically the ending of the walking simulator Soma.

The writing is bad. "Axioms End" bad. Maybe worse. At least Lindsay didn't rely on pages and pages of pop culture references disguised as narrative. They shit is even worse than RP1.
