Re: Weebshit Thread
Part 2 is the best JoJo. Part 1 is too simplistic (I like the horror atmosphere but the shounen action is rather generic.) Part 3 was almost too creative for its own good. I like the memes it generated though. Stand battle poker matches and stand battle video game baseball were neat ideas. Part 4 was "fine." It had a very "stand puzzle" design to the conflicts. The evil Stand-of-the-week would have a power that was really overly strong, and then the heroes would have to use their brains to figure out ONE SIMPLE TRICK to win the day. Part 4 begins with the water stand serial killer and it continues with that exact structure for the entire run:
1) introduce overpowered villain
2) overpowered villain btfo's everyone
3) thinking emoji
4) ONE SIMPLE TRICK
5) doradoradora for 13 panels
Part 5 was when I tapped out. The novelty of JoJo had worn off by then and connections to the Joestars became too tenuous. I liked the vampires and was sorry when they exited the story at the end of Part 3.

There's sadly not much left to go after you have introduced Super God Super Vampire.
What keeps (sexually) confusing me with Stands is that they keep making me think about Digimon or something like it, but Stands aren actually real characters. Except the ones that actually are, which I'm sure will pop up since every new Stand needs to have some new twist.

The coolest trick in the entire Part was Speedwagon's blade hat, which he used exactly once and then never again. He was just too good for this arc.
Tumblr doesn't give a shit about the actual franchise and its canon. They just wanna grab the characters so they can turn them into ugly MTF retards of color with at least two conflicting pride flags that don't actually resemble the original character in any way, shape or form.ebin namefag wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 12:06 amIt's weird to think how active a Jojo sperg I was and yet when the anime came out I mostly tapped out. I think all the animu secondaries and tumblerites know the franchise better than I do now.

Part 1 works really well as a self-contained vampire story with a bit of a twist. Dio is such an amazing asshole, you just have to stick around.
Part 2 is the curve ball you never knew you wanted. All characters are great.
Ironically, what JoJo is mostly known for today, the stands, is what I never liked much.

Anybody seen Blue Comet SPT Layzner? How does it compare to Votoms? (Same director)
It's coming out on Blu-ray.

How does it compare to Votoms? I guess unfavorably although it's fine.
I can't remember if the meme history of why it was cancelled is true (the sponsor's air humidifiers started exploding and killing people.) With that in mind those first eight episodes of them just kinda fucking around on Mars feels wasted.
Around halfway there's a timeskip and a setting change and it becomes Fist of the North Star with mechs.
They didn't get to explore the story elements they were planning (later elaborated upon in a novel continuation) but the actual conclusion is "fine." You can skip the actual last episode and go to the third OVA since it's an expanded ending and literally includes all of the last episode's footage.
The theme songs are nice.

OG Dragem Balls is truly the best incarnation. Though on my rewatch, I am finding Pilaf drags a little bit.
It’s still an OG arc - so it’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination- but clearly Toriyama found his footing with the first tournament arc.

Not sure where to put this, but it's yet another example (via Zipperhead McMukbang once again) of "rules for thee, but not for me" in action.

I hope they don't have to find a new voice actor for Piccolo anytime soon. It's a bitch finding Namekians.
>the character they wanted me to play as "Generic Asian Guy"
Welcome to the woke mindset. They don't care enough about Asian people to differentiate them by country.
And you should be glad they do it that way. Otherwise they might not even offer you a role 'cause you're the wrong kind of Asian.
>I don't speak Mandarin
Oh, so you are the wrong kind of Asian.
I guess he should stick to furryshit like Lackadaisy. At least until social media decides his character presents as black.

The Naoki Urasawa/Osamu Tezuka anime project Pluto has dropped on Netflix. Looking good so far. It's an expanded adaptation of one specific story arc in Astro Boy.

Magi: Labyrinth of Magic is breddy fun. Too much Shounenshit forgets the point of these shows is to go on fun adventures. Magi has a good balance of fun adventures and sad tearjerker stories about poor people.
