Too bad the "groundbreaking" stories from most of those decades can't be told anymore because you got rid of the main characters, or they're the Fantastic Four or the X-Men which you're still ignoring.

He might be right. Action movies don't go out of fashion, just different types of them, and capeshit can be any type. It can be set in space, it can be in a city. It can be funny, it can be serious. It can be set in the past, present, or future. It can be whatever is popular.

What is likely to happen is that the MCU's direction will get old. Too many movies. Story arcs that lose peoples' interest. Characters that don't catch on. Young audiences, people not born yet when "Iron Man" came out, don't care.

When that happens, they can do what the comics do. Reboot. Trash everything from before. Start over. Captain America and Tony Stark all over again with new actors. A new interpretation. It's worked with Batman.

People are already getting a little sick - Black Panther 2 and Doctor Strange made money (because people wondered if the Fantastic Four and the XMen were in it) - but this is the first year since 2017 that MCU capeshit didn’t even finish in the top 3 of the box office. Even then - the 2017 capeshitters got better press on average.
