Speaking of cartoons, I was rewatching American Dad as background noise while playing some vydia and right at the start of Season 1 Episode 2 there's a joke saying that Bush didn't really get any votes and the CIA manipulated the election. Funny how THAT was very much kosher to say back then.

In my headcanon the Smurfs are mischievous kobolds that steal children through enchantments, because Wechselbalgs are their only means of reproduction.
Gargamel (or in early Kraut translation Gurgelhals) was once an innocent alchemist, until a pillaging smurf party stole his son away. Also his wife in trying to stop them died during the encounter. Thus he devoted his life on revenge and started practicing black magic.

The story literally wrote itself once I thought of the first premise that those blue fucks aren't benevolent critters.

His wife died because she got gang-banged by the Smurfs. All the non-elderly Smurfs in the show were spawned when they burst out of her inflated stomach like a bunch of mini-chestbursters.

Smurfette, the only female (at least originally) Smurf, was created by Gargamel (whose ultimate objective is to turn Smurfs into gold) to infiltrate the utopian, all male Smurf society, to seed discord and to spy on them.
Do you really need a backstory for Gargamel other than "he's a Jew"?

There only being "male" ones should've clued him in that they don't sexually reproduce and would have no interest in a "female" Smurf.

Although, introducing the concept of a woman to them is hilariously evil and cruel.

I hope there's no ongoing Smurf comic in Current Year. Those woke writers would have a field day with the Smurf's "gender issue".
