Even history books are riddled with wokeness. Best to not read anything before 2009.

I just got done yesterday with The Count of Monte Christo. I've only ever seen parts of the Gerard Depardieu movies before.
It's a pretty long "book" that is actually a six part book series that was originally publicated via a magazine. The average reading time is about 26.5 hours and it took me about a week or so.
I can very much recommend it. I've read a good, old translation with all the old speak intact and I suggest anyone interested to get something like that as well.
Despite the length, it doesn't waste your time. Every character or location introduced plays an important role in the story.
It's a great revenge story

The Jim Caviezel movie wasn't bad, though the retconning of Mercedes nearly kills it.

Albert is Edmund's real son and they all stroll away into the sunset to live happily ever after despite Mercedes cucking him for a straight decade.

I remember the movie got delayed forever and had a lot of cool stuff left out, like the "I'm a count, not a saint" bit when he's fighting Fernand with two swords.

That's pretty lame. Especially because that would make Albert a bastard for being born out of wedlock.

Has anyone here actually read the Thomas Harris books Hannibal and Hannibal Rising? I bought his first three novels (Black Sunday, Red Dragon, The Silence of the Lambs) but didn't buy the other three because I'd heard they were terrible (the Hannibal novel's shittiness is why the Hannibal movie ended up being so shit). Now I'm wondering if it isn't worth reading them for completeness sake if nothing else?

Imagine spending a billion US dollars to be a loser. Could've watched animu and be one for free.
