Re: Non-cape tv show
I will never get why people thought stretching the screen was a good idea in the first place. It never looks good, be it in vidja, animu, or live-action.Guest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 2:26 amI guess what I'm saying is they should leave things in their original ratio.

Some of the old sitcoms were shot on shiteo to cut costs and thus will look like crap forever.

I saw a Karen Lancaume porno that was upconverted from VHS using some program and it look pretty okay for the format.

Re: Non-cape tv show
I've been watching Hammer House of Horror. I like short stories and these are pretty okay.
Re: Non-cape tv show
Was thinking of getting that when it was on sale, heard some of the shorts are very good, some bad but that overall there's a fair bit of padding.
In terms of short horror films I have been watching Short Sharp Shocks, which is a collection of obscure short British tv films, some of them horror some not. The first disc is absolute pish. The second disc has some great stuff, and I would recommend everyone to watch The Lake - utterly tremendous

Hammer House of Horror is a good watch.
Regarding the letterboxing, I’m guessing they didn’t learn from when whatever stupid streaming service or channel tried to pretty up Boofy the Vampire Snarker. They had shots where vampire characters would be in sunlight and all sorts of other fuck ups due to the poor remastering effort.
Sometimes you just gotta take it as it is folks.

Don't forget various quality anti-noise filters for HD "remasters" that are prone to confuse rain for said noise.

I can recommend it in that mindset. Yeah, some of the stories are good and some are bad. Pretty much all short story collections are that way, but I still enjoy them. I like '90s Outer Limits way more than that show deserves.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 3:55 pmWas thinking of getting that when it was on sale, heard some of the shorts are very good, some bad but that overall there's a fair bit of padding.

Even Criterion has made this fuckup. Their Scanners knicked bits off the infamous head asplode scene because they were caught in the auto-denoiser.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 4:40 pmDon't forget various quality anti-noise filters for HD "remasters" that are prone to confuse rain for said noise.
