Problem was people had concerns about them until their fluke game against Costa Rica. They got worse as the tournament went on. They went from, Win, Draw, Loss, eliminated in 4 games and almost got eliminated in group stage if not for Germany going nuts scoring 3 goals after falling 2-1 to Costa Rica themselves. Their Costa Rica game covered up a lot of flaws that they had. It's unsurprising that they got eliminated.

The problem is that they were focused on making too many passes and not passes to threaten Morocco. It really felt like Morocco was pressuring Spain more until the last 2 minutes of stoppage time and the extra halves.
