Seeing as most of these cartoons can't even get basic proportion and anatomy right, have numerous consistency errors and are churned out on flash and generally look worse than cartoons made by people for fun on the internet, anyone who legitimately argues this is an idiot and can be safely disregarded

And inconsistent flash is especially funny if it doesn't really make sense. The talented people behind Steven Universe can't even get relative height differences right. And here I thought flash lets you keep the "models" around or something.

When I was watching The Lion Guard, there's an episode where a jackal is at least twice as big as a lion cub, and later the same jackal and same cub are the exact same size.

It's because the Steven Universe team farms out their animation to several Korean sweatshops and was too lazy to provide written detailed instructions on characters' heights & standardized features.

The Steven Universe team goes the JohnK rout and replies completely on animators to animate using storyboards. That's great for Ren and Stimpy, but SU has a world were it relies on some consistency. Seeing character change in height is distracting. I haven't seen any in-house pencil tests they usually send the animators over seas so they know what to aim for.
