War was the only thing that Rambo was good at anyways. Same with my nigga Solid Snake.
Though using him to bail out POW is kinda like sending an ex-alcoholic to a beer drinking competition.

1974's Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell was a pretty shabby end to the franchise, but it does at least give the aging Cushing a dignified sendoff, suggesting that his incarnation of Frankenstein would spend the rest of his days fruitlessly tinkering away, hiding inside a dirty old mental asylum in a semidelusional state. It's an appropriately morbid and sad ending.

So I liked that. The Monster was utter shit though, and the rest of the cast and script was pretty mediocre. It was nice to finally see all the grisly details of Frankenstein's usual operations.
Clearly the definitive send off movie for Frankenstein is the absolute kino- I, Frankenstein.

Were there even still POWs in Vietnam in 1985? That movie made no sense.
I don't think so, but there was a popular belief (conspiracy theory?) among some vets and the American populace that the reason so many people went MIA is because those damn gooks must still be holding some of our guys.

Father time kind of proved that it was all bullshit.
There were a handful of guys that voluntarily stayed there and didn't want to go back home.

The proper capstone to the Frankenstein Cinematic Universe was Young Frankenstein.

First Blood is my favourite action movie and in my top 10 favourite movies period.

The last real action film I watched was the Liam Neeson one the Communter. It was watchable but I find it weird that all fight scenes in films are overchoreographed and filled with MMA takedowns now.
We seem to be moving past the MMA fad, thankfully. First it was Karate, then wire-fu, then Filipino Bourne shit, then MMA. Now it's back to flying kicks and shit but Scott Adkins will never be a leading man. So bland.

The biggest problem is the CG-enhanced one-take fights like in the commuter, where everything is clearly stitched together in post-production and seems blurry and unreal.

Even if he eventually ended up surviving, Mr. "War destroyed my life" doesn't strike me as one who would gleefully return to that which fucked him up to begin with.

Rambo was less functional than Snake. Also his knife was shit.
I had one of those hollow grip survival knives when I was a kid and it was indeed shit. I don't think I even got to use the blade for anything before it came loose and started wobbling around. My wallhanger katana did the same thing. You get what you pay for folks.

I read a thing that said the DIA had over 1000 reports of MIA sightings but only five of these were credible. Most of the people reported MIA in Vietnam are dead and are only recorded as MIA because they couldn't recover the bodies. Many of them were pilots who crashed their planes in the ocean.

Apparently the original ones made by the actual Rambo manufacturer are functional, but any other type of hollow grip knife will just fall apart.
