It's the Disney formula. Populate the screen with a bunch of attractive YAs in a formulaic show differing only on single half-baked concept, milk it for 5-7 years, then discard quickly and quietly as it ages, and repeat.

Only reason they don't with animated characters is that they never grow old or are in danger of ever deviating from their directive. So they can keep the money ones around forever.

Why would they care about a proper sendoff? The chance of seeing Han and Luke again served its purpose in luring in people eager for muh nostalgia.

In a more honest world, it wouldn't have been Kylo who stabbed Han, but rather Mickey Mouse, holding a bag of money with the words "box office" written on it in the other hand.

(At least there's hopes that Episode 9 will be the least profitable yet due to the lack of human blokes form the classic trilogy. Unless the trailers milk the shit out of a potential Force Ghost Luke.)

No idea why they would care I was just countering the point that disney wanted to include them so they could make way for the new characters or whatever the poster I responded to claimed.

Episode 9 will still do great, more retarded kids in this world every year. And I have seen soooooo many reviews about how shit TFA and TLJ were and they still end with "maybe they can fix it in 9 and then Ill buy the trilogy"
