Which was dumb. The sensible thing to do would have been to cancel it and sue and boycott the shit out of China.

The entire point of hosting the Olympics is not the games themselves but to drive a lot of tourism and make a lot of money through tourist related trade. By playing to a Japanese only audience they're not going to make anywhere near the money back that they spent getting ready for the Olympics in the first place.
