I guess there's always the Alien TV show to look forward to. The showrunner has a decent track record at least.

This series seems like it has potential, the opening scenes of exposition on the mining planet, and some of the setpieces. Everything ultimately devolves into an alien chasing motherfuckers down corridors, so probably not.

The "get away from her, you bitch" callback was pretty embarrassing. I guess I've just gotten to a point where I've seen much worse. The callbacks in Halloween 2018 annoyed me more, for example.

This at least has some atmosphere, and a few kills I liked. Part of me says - 'if most of the characters are going to suck, just go full Friday the 13th, and have a full cast of idiots you can kill in creative ways' - but I'm thinking more and more that would've just made this movie harder to sit through.

our first example of a chest burster happens after maybe an hour, when that shit happened to John Hurt like three days later during dinner. You could nitpick lore here - but I think it is more of a pacing issue.

Considering that cutting a finger of the first face hugger produced holes in two floors of the ship, while being sprayed with an adult alien's blood in the second movie just burned a marine's skin, i guess this can be easily ignored.

I don't even hate the black goo as a concept, the real problems of the prequels were the characters and the plot holes.

Is this what the franchise has come to? Endless black goo and facehugger sex to shit out new Not-Quite-Xenomorphs because that's apparently all that Ridley can come up with anymore?
