Re: Movie Thread
Didn't know the Spanish/Italians use the Three Magi like mall Santas.
And is that Balthazar in blackface?
(Or whichver one is the black one again. Seems to change depending on the time and place. )

I said the same thing a month or so ago and people didn't agree here.Complicity wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 12:17 amHot take: The Crow was never even remotely good, and if Brandon Lee didn't die on set the movie would've been completely forgotten.

The Crow's sequel also had a terible vidya adaptation.
So, more or less, true to the source material.

Been meaning to give De Iglesia a go! Glad to hear it has DHIs cranky wizard approval.

Unsurprising. The trailer was possibly the worst I've ever seen.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2024 6:56 pmEarly reactions to The Crow remake are calling it unwatchable.
Not even in the way that shit awful Wanda Vision one hit me where I was convinced it was a joke.
Oh no, it was clear that it wasn't a joke and that there would be nothing funny about it. It looked every bit of predictable and feckless as you'd expect from people that thought remaking The Crow was in anyway sensible whatsoever.
That is to say, Sarah Wilson will absolutely love it.

The Day of the Beast is considered his best movie.CuckTurdginson wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 6:17 pmBeen meaning to give De Iglesia a go! Glad to hear it has DHIs cranky wizard approval
The other movies of his i watched - Mutant Action, Dance with the Devil and Common Wealth - were meh.
Maybe it's a Spanish thing.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 5:57 amDidn't know the Spanish/Italians use the Three Magi like mall Santas.
I've never seen anything like that here.

Or it's like Krampus, which foreigners keep saying is a German thing, despite nobody here having ever heard about it.Complicity wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 10:27 pmMaybe it's a Spanish thing.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 5:57 amDidn't know the Spanish/Italians use the Three Magi like mall Santas.

I rewatched Fire Walk With Me. Liked it much more the 2nd time around, now that I'm more familiar with Lynch's bizarro symbolism.

Re: Movie Thread
Watched Dune: Part Two. Pretty gud. Still worse soundtrack than the 1984 version.
I couldn't care less for the camera lingering of Chani to give her trademark "I do not approve of this White Savior plot" look, but I'd say Stilgar more than makes up for it. Dude is channeling Monty Python's Life of Brian like a mofo with his fanboying for the Mahdi. Even goes all "Only the true Mahdi would deny his divinity"
Also finally some Harkonnen love in this part. Not sure about Rabban turning into more of a wuss as the plot unfolds, though.
