Don't know if you're taking the piss or not, but unironically this. It's the same reason western media now is so shit. Great, influential media doesn't repeat memes, it creates new ones purely by accident through good scenes and dialogue. It doesn't cannibalize the corpse of some franchise, it makes a new one. Azumanga Daioh is more culturally influential just from the creation of the term "waifu" than the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sure, you'll find people that argue that, like the absolute lowest forms of life like journalists and such, but they would make the exact same empty claim about the dozens of other mindless popcorn shit the MCU could be replaced with the very next day.
