Somebody on Facebook recommended Elfen Lied. A lot of tonal whiplash with that show. It had a very sad non-ending. The manga was still going, so the main villain didn't get defeated and the world-ending threat is not stopped.

The manga doesn't really have much of a better ending.

Retarded in Dungeon sounds interesting. Odd that anime is only now discovering the concept of eating dungeon monsters. That's an idea that dates back at least as far as the original Rogue, if not tabletop.

You'd think that would've come up in one JRPG dungeon crawler, seeing how obsessed they are with that genre.

I'm gonna have to rewatch Azumanga Daioh now that the zoomx can't stop talking about it. Think my memories will live up to bitter, geriatric Uguu?

The manga was disaster, IMO.

I never read the manga but I wasn't a fan of the anime either. I was just bored watching it. It switched from dull storytelling or gore and back which never catches my eye.

Elfen Lied rubbed me the wrong way right from the title. Stolen Krautaboo valour with that obvious random pick of a German title. I bet the author wouldn't even kill the Chinese for the emperor. Disgraceful!

Maybe the point of that scene in which the kids kill some animal in front of her just to be cunts, only to be butchered by her, was to show that she was the alpha predator, just like the kids were in comparison with the dog (or cat, or rabbit, or whatever) they killed.

What i truly remember about Misery Porn Supreme was how much the male protag was the ultimate gay cuckold; "yeah, i was the only nice person you knew, you repaid me by massacring my family and/or friends and scarring me for life, but i forgiv you becuz luv UwU".
I believe that in the mango he at least kills her with a gun halfway through, but he still thinks about her romantically afterwards like the faggot he is.

Tetsuo lost control of himself, entirely. The mango goes over this extensively. He starts out small, trying to surpass Kaneda and discovering he has psychic powers. The headaches are fucking him up and drive him to experiment with crazy amounts of drugs. Then he gets captured, experimented on and learns about the little kids. Starts feeling himself become less human over time. He discovers Akira and then who the fuck knows what's going on with his head? For all we know, he's controlled by Akira at that point, as much as it might seem the opposite. He's clearly not in control of his powers, which leads to him turning into Jabba the Cenobite at the end. His powers are too much for his frame to contain.

Akira is less of a discrete person (with identity) and more a mass of nuclear/psychic force given temporary shell.

Akira (the story) is another nuclear lolocaust examination from the country famous for them. Elfen Lied, I don't know what the fuck that story's about. Don't stick your dick in crazy?

Elfen Lied should've been a slice-of-life comedy centered around that airhead waifu who gets her arms ripped off. She was kinda fun when she wasn't traumatized for life every other chapter.
