It's funny because the game was getting improved since their last fuck up two years ago, when they overnerfed player damage, mana costs and defenses without any form of compensation. Their latest big change was the Atlas Tree system, a giant skill tree for maps that allow players to customize the content and rewards they got; that system got praise from everybody, despite exacerbating one of the main grips new players have with the game (muh fucking giant skill tree - now they have another one to deal with). Players genuinely thought they were going in the right direction... and then GGG pulled the carpet from under their feet.

There's zero need to use SMS for most things.

Soyny now requires a smartphone authentication feature to access your PSN on vita or PS3. Which means downloading your previously-purchased digital ps3, vita, ps1, ps2 classic games etc are all locked behind smartphone authentication.

You have to scan a fucking QR code and you can no longer create new accounts directly from a ps3. Say goodbye to those digital storefronts. They're not QUITE gone YET, but this is the first step. They're trying to do everything they can to depopulate the old storefronts so they can justify shutting them down, eventually leading to removing even the ability to redownload previously-purchased digital games.

Yet another justification for piracy and an argument against buying digital games. I wanted to log on just to see if there were still Ridge Racer games listed on the old PSN, but I couldn't even get that far.
