So I noticed something weird with regards to AoW4 and culture/tome unit synergy:
If for example you pick the "High" culture, your battle tactics will revolve around spamming the "Awakened" status, which is a buff that does something different depending on the unit type (like more defense for your shield guys and more range for your ranged guys).
None of your Tome units interact with Awakened, and only your High culture spellcaster can dish out the status (aside from your spells). Same for any units you might get through vassals or conquered cities.
So to fix this you can research a persistent buff that gives all your non-High units those passive abilities that let them benefit from Awakened (and lets your non-High casters spam Awakened).

Every culture can learn this enhancement that makes other units more like their culture. I can see that for units you gained from someone else, but I think your units you unlocked through Tomes should have this by default (aka "Why are my Chaplains not High Chaplains from the start?"). Right now it's basically extra upkeep.
You might avoid this in early game if you keep your units segregated by their source, but eventually you will have to mix 'cause your Culture units only go up to Tier III while the Tome units have two more tiers to go.

Seems alright based on footage shown. No idea if it retains the core addictive gameplay loop of your DOOMs, BLOODs, QUAKEs and Duke 3Ds.
