Soyfield: ESG-compliance and bafflement

Post by Kugelfisch » Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:11 am

I can't get enough of how much of a fucking trainwreck Starfield is!
I had zero expectations of it being any good, didn't follow the announcements and was surprised by its release, only hearing about the date a few days prior.

I wasn't interested in it at all. I knew it would be shit. But I was expecting the regular Bethesdaslop, not this total garbage fire.

It was down 66% of its average players within a month. 55% the next month. It now sits at around 6k average daily players.

For comparison, Skyrim has a solid 20k daily players, Fallout 4 sits at 13k and even supreme blunder FO76 has 7k daily average players.
Cyberjunk has 17k players, by the way.

If it's any consolidation, The Outer Worlds doesn't even manage 400 players between the regular and Spacer's Choice Edition.
Then again that shit was dead on arrival with an all time peak of 17k, compared to a Starfield all time high of 330k.

A wonderful comment I've just read under the Soyfield video by JWLAR:
"The moment that starfield died for me was pretty early on. I landed on Luna as close to the landing zone of Apollo 11 as possible.
When I got off my ship it was raining."

Todd's only contribution as "creative director", or whatever the fuck he credited himself as, was telling the slaves "bigger Failout 4 in space, and make it snappy!".

I wonder what happened to that project about remaking Oblivion with Skyrim graphics.
That would look good; Daggerfall and Arena look like shit in 3D.

Sweet Baby Inc. was involved in Starfield, so I'm not surprised by its failure.

It's there to put out the fire on the moon.

So that's why all the npcs are black in space.

That'd be fine but it only accounts for the woke shit, not why it's so boring.

The premise sounded good on paper, but it quickly dawned on them how much work it would entail. Thus excuses like "Real planets and moons also also empty and boring!"

Empty like a white dwarf pulsar.

Yeah, super boring. Not at all something you'd absolutely shit your pants over when you've been calmly space trucking for the last hour.

If you ever had a circular trucking route with Hutton Orbital in it for the rare goods, its easy to not pay attention and look for bad shortcuts.

Fucking Hell, any regular jump and landing on a planetary base is 1000 times as exciting as Garfield!
