Maybe the setting is too problematic with their "ALL kenders (hobbits basically) are kleptomaniacs!"
That's not even a stereotype though, these tiny fuckers will compulsively steal from friends and foes alike.
Then again they're small and use almost the word for "children" (kinder) so maybe the original authors were LGBTPEDO friendly?
It's a trap!

Kenders are just a vehicle for idiot players to behave like idiots (the classic "I gonna pick pocket my party members five minutes after meeting them!" retardation, only rivaled by "I'm gonna leave the main quest to pick pockets in the town square!" nonsense that some asshole try to pass as "role-playing"), so if they got rid of them, that's a positive in my book. But of course, I have no doubt that the rest of.the material is just rancid as anything put up with SJWotC nowdays.

Kender are pretty much romanticized gypsies, with an extra dash of "whimsy" because the're halflings.

"Oh, these lovable pranksters steal everything not bolted to the floor because they can't comprehend the concept of personal property uwu"

Worst. Race. Ever.

I assume the new writers might try to "redeem" them in a similar way they tried (and failed) to "redeem" the Vistani (the Not-Gypsies of the Not-Romania that is Ravenloft). They were basically romanticized even harder and effectively turned into a gypsie-themed minstrel troupe.

Another "problematic" bit of Dragonlance lore will probably be the Gully Dwarves, aka dirty hobo dwarves with either a learning disability or full-on mental retardation.

Fucking Dragonlance, how does it werk? Guess Jizzards of the Coast can only afford to feed one big author. And from a business perspective it's reasonable to support the setting that gets them more money, because of muh anti-hero Drizzt Slurp'Gurgle, on the other hand its like GW only catering to SPESS MERINS with HIGHER NUMBERS than last edition.

I think the Hickmans might've committed wrongthink in the past, actually.
Plus Dragonlance suffered from the same problem as all TSR settings besides Forgotten Realms: Wizards of the Coast not giving a shit.

Haven't played it to be honest but I have read that one book that everyone knew back in the day which is basically an 8 people dungeon crawl I guess.. Reading about that is boring enough but it was even worse that there were absolutely no stakes since you catch up quickly that all the numerous tragically set up party deaths aren't going to stick because raise dead is extremely common in this setting apparently.

Dungeon crawls for large groups where the norm back in the day, before 3.X settled for 4-man-troupes.
The more convenient resurrections might narrow things down a little, though it's not really ringing a bell.

Weird Licensing Deals

Licenses for third-party publishers hold a lot of power in the tabletop world. The iconic OGL of 3.X fame effectively created a whole parallel society of tabletop RPG products, and opened the floodgates for all kinds of retroclones.

But once the genie is out of the bottle, it can become sheer impossible to put it back in. Newer editions with more restrictive OGL-likes can soon see themselves of a losing edition war, as the third-party folks stick to the older edition (or a derivative of it) and the players stick with the larger offering.
D&D 4e is a classic example of this. Fans weren't particularly happy to begin with, but its Not-OGL was particularly draconic. Probably the biggest point of contention was that it forbid you from publishing both 3.X and 4e products, a logical result of another weird thing about 4e that pissed people off (Wizards of the Coast removed their entire pre-4e offerings from any digital distribution platform to effectively "gently nudge" people into buying the hip new edition; piracy probably shot through the fucking roof during that time).
Even worse, even if you decide to make 4e products, you run into the issue that Wizards heavily promoted their subscription-based online character builder - which was limited to first-party content, so lazy players can't use that shiny toy together with a third-party book.
Mongoose Publishing also fell victim to this classic blunder. They're mostly known for reviving the iconic science-fiction RPG Traveller, as well as for shite editing and questionable design decisions (my favorite being how missiles hit about 1/6 as hard as they did in Classic Traveller, which made them a waste of money seeing how lasers hit just as hard, don't require ammo and are hitscan weapons). They also benefited from a healthy third-party market for their take on Traveller.
Come their second edition of Mongoose Traveller, and the licenses offered was now a lot more ass, so pretty much the entire third-party market just forked off the previous edition as Cepheus Engine.

And now for more recent examples which have inspired this diatribe to begin with.

The BRP Open-Gaming License

Mostly known for Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest and Pendragon. Like many publishers these days, they have simple licensing deals for third-party publishers wanting to create adventures for their RPGs, like the "Miskatonic Repository" for CoC (which has lead to Korean third-party products appearing at the top seller list on DriveThruRPG for several weeks).
But what if you want to make an entire game using the fabled d100 system that Chaosium is known for? Your fucked.
  • You are not allowed to make your own take on an IP that Chaosium themselves have made RPGs for, even if it's public domain like the Cthulhu Mythos.
  • And thanks to Pendragon, this OGL is the only one on the face of the planet that you cannot use for anything based on Le Morte d’Arthur
  • This also extends to IPs they no longer have the license for, like Stormbringer and Hawkmoon by Moorcock. Not sure how that works.
  • You wanna make your own original fantasy game? I hope you like designing new magic systems then, 'cause this OGL forbids you from using any magic systems that are even similar to the ones found in RuneQuest. Imagine if the D&D OGL prohibited you from even entertaining the idea of Vancian spellcasting.
  • You wanna make your own original horror game? Tough shit, your not allowd to use a Sanity system like Call of Cthulhu.
I can kinda get that their paranoid about a accidentally creating a Pathfinder-esque rival, but it's way too fucking late for that. You could just make your own fork using OpenQuest (itself a fork of an earlier version, but these d100 titles don't change nearly as drastic as say D&D can) and ignore these retarded restrictions, or get in touch with the blokes behind Mythras (the tabletop RPG formerly known as RuneQuest 6e).

World of Darkness Unbound

(This is mostly about video games, but fuck it, it's still tabletop-adjacent enough.)

So, Paradox. Well known for developing video games that are all about buying DLCs for, or in the case of Prison Architect, becoming the publisher for existing games so you can rape the game with a shitload of DLCs.
They also own the iconic World of Darkness. The old one, mind you, not the new one that is now known as Chronicles of Darkness to make this slightly less confusing.

Anyhow, they decided to make a sort of OGL for video games. You can make a video game set in the fabled Vampire: The Masquerade setting!
Except you can't put "Vampire: The Masquerade" anywhere in the title.
And you don't really get any help or support from Paradox.
And they get about 1/3 of the profit.
And they basically want you to make a game for them.

You think being able to use the setting is that big of a deal? How hard can it be to cobble together your own world of vampire mafias?

Oh, another virtue signal bundle.

It seems like whenever SJWs are sufficiently triggered, they rally the "massive" pool of tabletop gamers with some bundle (usually full of worthless indie crap) so they can pay off lawyers or some shit.
Back when "mostly" peaceful protests where "blessing" the nation, itch.io (aka Hipster DriveThruRPG) started their famous Burn Loot Murder Bundle.
When those fascist Texans where planning to kill trans kids (or something like that), they had a Troon Rights Bundle.
Now we have this whole abortion trauma, and this time Classic DriveThruRPG is having a Coat Hanger Bundle!

RPGs for Reproductive Justice

Somewhat less insane than the itch.io bundles (which regularly include what feels like their entire catalogue, aka good fucking luck searching through all that shit in your library), but that just highlights how anemic the whole thing is. Most of this shit is just supplements for something else.

There's really only one high-profile RPG in there, namely Mutants & Masterminds (a capeshit fork of True20, which in turn was a fork of D&D / d20 Modern), which you can get for free anyways (a bit wonky for capeshit, but hey that never stopped people from liking D&D). Not too surprising seeing how Green Ronin is pretty woke, but it's odd that they're adding this game from 2013 instead of their newer AGE Sytem stuff (a fork of their licensed Dragon Age RPG which was in turn another fork of D&D; are you confused yet?).

It's also good to hear from Chivalry & Sorcery 5e again, the "historically-accurate" mediavel RPG that teaches us that medieval Europe was full of black people, and that being gay was totally okay until the evil church suddenly decided it wasn't anymore.

And the Fate Accessibility Toolkit? Really, Evil Hat Productions? Where's my Yearning Cutlass Dykes? You guys are not even trying.

My guess is since they are already Desperate Blade Fem-Faggots, they don't have need for abortion? But don't tell the writers, lest they incorporate impregnation by the BBEG, having the Lusty stabbing weapon lezzos go on a righteous quest for a fetus deletus.
