Dayum, here's some subtle dystopian nightmare for you: When you want to make your own version of Oriental Adventures, but are paranoid over getting cancelled for Orientalism / cultural appropriation

The World of Kensei is a made-up fantasy setting. It is a mix of many stories, myths, mythologies or just made up things with a label that sound or does not sound like any geographical region's language or have similarities with something that might have existed or a mix of both.

We know we cannot satisfy everyone, and even though we try to be aware of how we present things we can also do wrong or say things that might offend people from different religious, cultural, sexual, political, or other backgrounds and lifestyles. That is not our intent and if that is the case, please contact us in a polite and objective manner and suggest changes, and we will listen.

Well, at least their setting has an entire tribe of black Totally-Not-Samurai, so that might keep some SJWs at bay.


Also note the same people have also done a campaign setting based on Nordic/Celtic myth, where they had no issues avertizing their inspirations. Double standards much?

Ah, I think I've uncovered the truth. Apparently all their previous stuff got bought out by a different company, though that one only really does board games, so it's still effectively gone.

In other news, seems like there's gonna be some drama afoot with regards to the planned revised edition for 13th Age (basically Baby's First narrative-ish RPG for babies that are only familiar with D&D).
The reason? One of the two main designers for the game has since been accused of wrongthink, and the other one has to grovel to justify working with this heinous fiend again.

Pay special attention to the beach scene. It appears these iconic characters (popular in many RPGs to act as recurring stand-ins for the player characters, in this case most likely just the main characters from this "amazing manga") just have a single female, and even that might just be a troon that actually takes hormones instead of the rest of the team that's just gay people in varying shades of drag.
There's also not even a single FTM in the team, since queer artists would never waste an opportunity to draw mastectomy scars (a popular fetish on tumblr).

It's also funny that the bad guys have "Justice" in their name.
It's even funnier that you defeat them by turning them queer, instead of lining them up against the wall and gunning them down like their taget audience actually wants.
