Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

I'd be fine with a RIFTS tabletop wargame.

Well, with the Savage Worlds adaptation you're halfway there.

Elon Musk is not amused at WotC's attempts to shit on Gygax' legacy by calling him everything from a sexist to a racist.

As opposed to today where white, middle-class men still make up about 90% of the actual players but it's become hip to claim to have a D&D group for white, upper-class hipsters.

That official "history book" is really something else. It's like the hired the writer(s) based on the size of their hate boner for white people in general, and Gygax and particular.
Also I love how the proof of "sexism" mostly seems to revolve around non-gender-neutral class names, and then it suddenly starts bombarding you with examples of religious insensitivity.
>Gygax promotes slavery!
It's a thing that's bound to pop up in any (non-retarded) historical setting. Get over your stupid cotton farms.
>clerics become buddhist teachers!
Did anyone ever care about the "name levels" of early D&D? It was mostly interesting for level 9 when you more or less automatically got your own HQ and henchmen.
>you are expected to kill Vishnu and take his stuff!
Pretty sure most people scratched their heads at early D&D's insistence on giving gods statblocks. I guess they just didn't want to publish a book without crunch, which might also explain the slapdash rules for becoming a god yourself. Yeah, good fucking luck with AD&D's epic level rules.
Also nobody expects you do to anything to a creature, just because it has stats. Every monster manual has always been full of good critters you never had any reason to fight. But they did have stats because verisimilitude.
And good fucking luck killing someone who can make you no longer want to fight him (no save allowed). Oh, and he can teleport. And as a god he can't actually die unless he's in his home domain (where his minions and other pantheon buddies are likely, too).

Re: Basements & Beards- Analogue Gaming Thread
What are they talking about? 3rd Edition also had the gods in Deities a d Demigod with character sheets. Not only that, most of them had very poorly-thought builds, like none of them being able to cast epic level spells due to excessive multiclassing into useless shit, which meant that a reasonably optimized group could beat said god with lower than expected levels. Also, in the two official 4th edition campaigns, the last boss was a god youre expected to defeat Orcus and Demigorgon, respectively. Not their avatars, the gods themselves.

>3rd edition epic-level rules are dumb and both poorly thought out and implemented
Imagine my shock.
Also real chads prefer the 3rd party book Immortal's Handbook.
Orcus and Demigorgon are technically demon princes. Not sure how much they qualify as a real god to what extend, but their stats do pop out in less niche supplements all the time, though whether it's supposed to be the real deal or an "avatar" seems to depend on how embarassed the writing team felt about the whole deal at the time.

In 4th Edition, Orcus had ascended to godhood as part of the updated "default" pantheon. I'm not sure if Demigorgon had done the same.
