Uncharted is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it's shallow PS3 era set piece shit but it does it well.

Uncharted sucks massive dongs. Play Army of Two 40th Day, Punisher 2005 or Max Payne 2 if you want gunplay. Jak 1 was superior to both sequel Jak games, but at least they were games. Unlike Roller Coaster Ridecharted.

Uncharted occasionally had decent gunplay in between that. In 4 there were the odd levels that were actually well designed and gave you options for approach rather than whack a mole shit, though not all of them. In that expansion game with the two women there was a section that wasn't linear at all that allowed certain hubs (4 or 5 of them) to be completed at your own pace in whatever order you wanted. It's obvious some people at Naughty Dog know how to make good third person shooter levels but the series was known for set piece shit that was big in the late 2000s so they have to have them.

Any weeb Platinumfag who tells you Vanquish is a good game because other third person shooters are just whack a mole need to realise there is a thing called fucking level design. Third person cover shooters may not have intricate mechanics like fighting games or Devil May Cry but the depth comes from the levels and your options of approach, when your character is zipping about in fucking god mode it doesn't matter if you can do an extra melee move because at that point the level design is fucking useless. It's like playing a broken ass character in a fighting game with double health, they had to compensate their broken as fuck character with a million enemies on screen at once.

Back on Uncharted 4, fuck the first third was a pain to get through. SO MUCH CUT SCENES, I swear the part where you play a Crash Bandicoot level felt like a 40 minute cut scene. It eventually got on with it but fucking hell that was obnoxious.

Sounds like the Womb Raider reboot. I enjoyed the game for a decent little shootercoaster with metroidvania elements, but it wasn't groundbreaking.

Vanquish fucking sucks. Nobody agrees with me, but it is so. The level design is complete trash garbage even by cover shooter standards. I'd rather play Gears of War 3. Flipping around and jumping off shit is only fun if the game supports that with interesting enemies and level design to encourage playing that way. The visuals in vanquish are so stark and bland they cause my eyes physical pain.

I'm sure Uncharted has okay gameplay in some places, WHEN they actually let you play. But I already tried Last of Cucks a few years ago and I'm out of fucks to give for Naughty Dog. It wasn't the tedious story and the shitty cutscenes that really annoyed me with that game. Oh no. It was the terrible gameplay. Shallow, shitty, boring, tedious, linear-ass-hallway, no-ammo-having, micro-managed gameplay. Getting 3 bullets from killing a dude isn't "survivalist gaming." It's faggotry. It means you always get exactly barely enough to pass whatever section of the shitty rollercoaster gameplay the devs set up for you. It means zero experimentation allowed, not that the hallway levels would allow for any. It means one UND ONLY VON solution to everything. It means they fucking drown you in ammo right before every big set piece and thereby give the game away. Everyone remembers the scene where Joel walks into the first driveway full of convenient, waist-high cover, right? Even though it makes so sense and looks fucking stupid? The entire game is that.

Oh, and Ellie is completely invisible, totally oblivious, cannot be seen by enemies and won't ever be heard by them when she's blabbing at you. What a realistic, serious story game. She's an excuse for the devs to force you to move crates around, find ladders and float her across rivers. The most tedious and insufferable "gameplay" of the game.

Their stealth system sucks so much fucking massive donger that they gave Joel the ability to see through all of the walls in a level, because they knew their system was so wank that it couldn't support a more limited player toolkit.

Even in the first game, Naughty Dog were absolute hackfrauds of the highest order. Nothing in their game worked the way they promised it would pre-release. Everything was extremely dumbed down or the mechanic was removed entirely. Invincible/invisible/unhearable Ellie + detective vision was their admission they fucked the stealth beyond all possibility of recovery, so they slapped the band-aids on it and shipped it out in hopes nobody would care. Most of the soys didn't because they don't actually PLAY games.

Sucker Punch at least made Infamous 1, which was good.
