It's intentional. I watch a few Shadiversity videos every now and then, and when he's not sperging over Current Year fight scenes for 50+ minutes, he's sperging about castles in about half the time.

I also immediately thought that, but he appeared after a regular fight that lasted 3-4 turns, while others went on for more than 10 and nothing.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 4:25 pmthe Reaper only shows up when you stay in one area for too long.
Maybe there's another condition that summoned him.

Shame what you know that for but at least you know. Oubliette is the next pro step.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 6:51 pmIt's intentional. Re: What are you playing?
More info on the new AoE2 DLC:
- None of the original AoE1 campaigns are included, but they're planning to rectify that
- The AoE2 Roman's Legionary is their replacement for the Two-Handed Swordsman / Champion upgrades of the Militia line, saving you quite a bit of upgrade costs
- Their Centurion on the other hand is their regular unique unit, and it passively buffs Militia units in a huge radius
- Instead of a Cannon Galleon they get the Dromon as a siege ship. It's basically a mangonel ship, with shorter range than the Cannon Galleon, but a faster fire rate and a bigger area-of-effect attack that makes it a bit more of a generalist
- Other civs also get the Dromon. For the Byzantines and Goths it replaces the Cannon Galleon, and the Huns get a straight-up upgrade in the naval department because they didn't have any siege ship before
- Despite the Dromon being what is generally referred to as a "regional unit", it does count as a unique unit for damag purposes. Keep them away from Samurai, is what I'm saying here.

Re: What are you playing?
I guess, if you like the features i described.
I completed the Flagellant's backstory and figured out that Death appeared during the run once because he was in the party - he's a zombie in this game, uses blight attacks instead of bleed attacks, and thinking about it he's the only character who can tank, heal and attack at any range at the same time.
I believe that the trail did indeed become longer after the second final boss, i didn't notice because it was achieved by making the segments/scenarios longer rather than adding more of them to the trail (it may still happen after the third boss i'm currently stuck at).
Stronger varieties of enemies have also started to show up.
Another thing i forgot to mention is that you can't rely on healing as much as in the first game; all the spells have long cooldowns and/or limited uses and/or can't be used at all if the target still has too much health and/or can be used only after special conditions are fulfilled.

And to think this once spawned an entire genre of dungeon-crawl misery porn.

Re: What are you playing?
The healing makes sense/works with the new mechanics.
But the Slay The Spire trail and the fail forward are indeed gay.
I'm starting to notice a correlation between all of these roguelites with fail forward systems and participation trophies irl/fail forward culture in leftist entertainment.
Nothing miserable about this:VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 6:37 pmAnd to think this once spawned an entire genre of dungeon-crawl misery porn.

Re: What are you playing?
Fail forward gameplay systems make me irrationally angry. Roguelikes were never supposed to be that way.
