AC3 was just very uninteresting. By the time it came out people were completely burned out on the main AC gameplay. The ship stuff was a very welcome change and it's no wonder people wanted more of that and less of the stale AC gameplay.
Doesn't help that the main character was boring as hell.

Revolution 1979 seems like another case of "Just make it a goddamn movie".

I vaguely remember that game getting mentioned in German television, largely so they could go "Did you know that video games can have a story?!"

Like I've said, should've made a god damn documentary. The story presented in the game is bad, it doesn't surprise me that some german journo was trying to promote that game out of any other that actually have a decent story.

I have no idea how it could've been well received by critics, but then again, shit like Gone Home was critically praised as well and it has awful writing nobody would care about if it wasn't in a form of a shitty indie game.

Glitch no Jutsu.

(And you just know it'd be set in the Meiji Period, with all dem foreigners opening up the Japanese market being evil Templars out for multi-folded Nihon goodness.)

Something like Hitman: Shinobi Edition would be fun. Something were you actually disguised yourself as a beggar or wandering monk instead of running on rooftops like a retard.
Yeah it be Meiji or Sengoku or Early Tokugawa Shogunate (Meiji like you said, Sengoku because it's already overused, Early Tokugawa because their was interaction with foreigners andthey could blame the Templars for Japan isolationism)

I'd say it's the other way around. Glorious Nihon lived in peaceful harmony until the Templars decided to extends their iron rule upon the island.

Also you can bet the three Imperial Regalia of Japan are actually ancient alien artifacts the Templars need for world domination.

(Besides you can't claim that Japan isolationism was a bad thing because it was ended by *white* men.)

Even hardcore AC fanboys shit on the main character in AC3 constantly. He's the blandest guy ever from what I've seen.

It's weird too, because the game starts with this badass guy named Hatham. An entire game of that guy would have been perfectly acceptable. I don't know why asscreed keeps trying to push their shitty templars vs assassins story, but supposing they have to, they could at least have the decency to let us play as a badass templar.

Shay doesn't count (mofo from Rogue.) He's a pussy assassin who became a templar by sucking templar dick after boo hooing away from the assassins because surprise surprise assassins kill people. Oh but killing people individually is cool. Killing people via destroying cities is over the line, brah! I'll go murder this guy because the black dude told me he's bad. But accidentally destroying a city to potentially save the world? Go fuck yourself dad I'm joining the SS!

Also he has an irish accent. Fuck him more for that.

The entire root of the problem with AC is the fucking animus shit that was put in the first game late in development.
Sure, it did add some interest before it came out. Good marketing move. But it locked the entire series into always having to be bound to the autistic templar vs. assassins shit and prevented having a wholly different character. The formula was boring after 2 already and yet it went on for how many titles now? Typical Ubisoft behaviour. EA has to make everything worse from game to game, Ubisoft will just repeat the exact same shit for a decade.

Yeah, it's the biggest problem IMO with asscreed. Especially after playing a fair bit of black flag now. All the interesting shit I've found to do in the game is mostly side stuff. Even if the formula is repetitive, mixing up between assassination, convoys, rescuing pirates, stealing shit from plantations etc. Aside from the assassinations missions which aren't that different from a normal mission, it's mostly shit about your pirate bro stealing people's stuff and getting rich. Oh and the present day shit in black fag is the WORST. It's obviously vestigial and the game is worse for having it.

The human combat is pretty weird. It feels like DDR on easymode in group battles, but at least the assassinations are fun to do. They've sped them up so fast now that you can speedrun assassinate dudes in long chains.

AssCreed in ancient China exists. It's a 2D platformer. I'm not even kidding.

Also, someone wanted Feudal Japan AssCreed or something? Well :

SuckerPunch's making it. Fitting given they did the Sly Cooper games, now they do a stealth game about the origins of ninja in Japan.

As for Nioh : It's Onimusha with a Dark Souls paint. You liked Onimusha, you'll like this. You can go hardcore parkour and basically become Ryu Hayabusha in the game or you can play it as Souls game and never bother with the difficulties beyond, just make sure you upgrade and put lots of souls amrita in your stats.
