Not literally every single one IIRC, because I don't play SFV, but I know that most of the ones that used to be charge are motion now. I just checked and most of the characters are motion and the ones who are "charge" still have a bunch of motion inputs. Apparently Guile may be the only true charge character but who knows. I don't play SF5 tho, I just watch footage now and then to remind myself why I don't play it.

Guile is still a charge character. Vega isn't at all anymore. Alex also still has his charge moves for the most part. Bison is still charge.
I don't blame Daigo for switching. Ryu is unbelievable dogshit in SFV. Pretty much bottom tier. I don't think anybody could win a tournament with him. There's only so much frustration you can take when your main got utterly fucked like that. You're basically asking him to undo screws with a hammer.

I assume there are other shotos in the game though. Daigo picked Guile and I can't help but think it was because of tier lists and matchups.

Like I said, I understand going from Ryu to Evil Ryu or from Gief to another grappler. Or to use the Tekken analogy, to go from Kazuya to Devil Jin or from Kazuya to Heihachi. These are similar characters, but the latter is just higher tier. But if your main was Alisa and you go to Dragunov, you might be a fucking tier whore.

The only shoto worth a damn is Akuma. Have you seen that goofy motherfucker? I wouldn't play him either.
Despite the roster being very small, it's unbalanced as shit. That's largely because the entire game is so damn limited.
I originally planned on learning Bison and got my little filing cards out to go full autism German, writing down all the combos and links to randomly pick and learn how to execute them. Two matchbox-sized cards are enough to write down everything Bison has. I don't mean that as in "everything besides hard as shit to execute stuff", I mean everything.
If you substract what's utter shit, you're left with maybe three combos per character. It's mind-numbing. So because of that, if one character gets a move made better, depending on how important and usable that move is, it may just buff something like 80% of the character's shit.
Conversely, if some character has one or two bad moves, the entire character is utter trash.

Daigo's job is playing fighting games. I'd tier whore as well in SFV. It's either that or eating shit 24/7. You can do that when you play casually but not when that's how you make money.

I guess it doesn't help basically all these guys either hate SFV or are ambivalent. They're just pulling a DSP. They gotta clock in, so they're gonna pick the easiest time possible while they fill their work week.

If people in the FGC were playing for the "love of the game," one assumes SFV would have been ditched in favor of 3rd strike and Ultra SFIV ages ago.

There's a reason why the nips call it "Duty Fighter". Show up to work, earn that money, do something else for fun.

I've seen tier lists and yes Guile is up there but as Kugel said only Akuma is any good. Ken is on the lower mid end generally but Ryu is damn near bottom. Daigo did main Guile in Street Fighter 2 though so he probably chose him because he knows he gets his fundamentals enough to not be a complete joke.

Considering that I believe it still lacks a proper arcade mode I'd say it's in perpetual beta. If you've got no financial reason to play it, skip it entirely.
