At least that violence looked good in that game, I can't wait for it to look nothing like that when the real game comes out.
Also I heard that the FF7 remake got scrapped and they started from scratch.

The idea of a REEEalistic FF7 is trash anyway. Why not be a bit more creative, use like a Ni No Kuni or Okami art style and play up the exaggerated, cartoony side? That way it'll be timeless, as opposed to shitty generic weeb "realism" that'll be outdated in 5 years.
Having said that I never cared much for FF7 or FF in general but if it was actually different and interesting I might be persuaded to take a look.

Re: E3 - June 9-12
FF7 always felt lackluster to me because they couldn't just embrace the high technology side of it that they presented to you for the first portion of the game. It always struck me as odd that you have all of this high technology that's, apparently, everywhere and yet so much of the world was stuck in third-world or barely first-world state. I know that was part of the whole schtick (Shinra is EEEEEEEEEEEVIL) but it never came across as that.
I mean, you run around with a dude with a gun arm and a vampire with a shotgun while everyone else just uses... spears, swords, fists, boomerangs and some talking dog that just bites dudes. Then you toss the whole idea of, "yo, these stones let you use magic," and you start to question how this widely available resource (it's the same cost as, like, 20 beers, iirc) hasn't taken over the use of this world-killing technology that Shinra is pushing into the mainstream.
Felt like they wanted to make a high technology final fantasy but then they were like, "but 6 was so popular so let's just do that again," and then they missed what made 6 actually decent.

I dislike FF12 for a similar reason. There's one, maybe two empires with really fancy-looking airships, guns and fucking robots, and most other parts of the world look like you've just traveled back 300+ years into the past.
FF6 made more sense than both because that game's world was largely industrialized.
You see, starting with FF7 they've made (at that time) hyper-realistic FMVs a cornerstone of the franchise. Blizzard did something like that for the PC market, but unlike Blizzard (where the FMVs often had a completely different style than the in-game graphics), Squeenix was obsessed with having the game and FMVs look as close to each other as possible.
Add to this their autistic obsession with having their games "be like Advent Children", and they've doomed themselves to outmost realism, which is just one of the major factors as to why their game development is slow, cost-intensive and overall inefficient.
Squeenix love re-inventing their entire gameplay system with each entry, but they're dead-set on giving every game the same style that will look pretty uncanny valley in a few more years (FMV Tidus is friggin' creepy).

Cel-shaded FF would be rad, but they're probably never going to do it.Angelfire Memes wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 8:34 amThe idea of a REEEalistic FF7 is trash anyway. Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

FF7 had FMVs as well. They just looked like ass, like the rest of the game.

Hyper-realistic compared to the other 3D stuff at the time, which also looked like ass.
