Tried to watch both Lex Fridman and Joe Rogan because YouTube showed up some interviews they did that were potentially interesting, only to find out that I can't stand none of the two faggots talking for more than 2 minutes.

Has anyone else noticed that YouTube no longer uses your screen name or nickname when you post a comment? It now only shows your @ name. Aka whatever name you originally signed up with. All the comment sections are like this now. Every single comment has been switched to their @ name. Odds are good you won't even know who you are talking to unless you recognize their profile picture in the tiny little thumbnail next to their comment.

I tried checking around different videos and channels to see if ANYONE's nickname is showing up correctly and couldn't find a single one. Even the channel owners in pinned comments have been switched to their @ name. So whatever you name yourself on youtube doesn't matter. Because whenever you comment, you will be shown as @metsfan201040420 instead of Couche Danoe.

These changes are retroactive to the entire comment section for all videos across the ages.

Of course it's retroactive. Unlike the comment text itself the name is just a pointer to {userDisplayName} or some shit.
Having noticed this @ thing in the comments, though. Probably rolling it out one region at a time.

I thought it might be only a "me" issue, so I did check on various other devices while signed out of youtube and the comments are the same. Every poster now has the @ and what presumably is the page address for their channel. So naming yourself is fucking pointless. Your channel name will never be seen unless someone is specifically watching your bideos.

Even more lmaos for people who used their 100% true and honest real-life dox as their @ youtube sign-up name, before later changing it to a display name. Get fucked normalfags!
