Though it gets a bit needlessly convoluted as time goes on. The Metroids have been eradicated since Super Metroid, so every game set after that must bring them back with cloning and shit so Samus can exterminate them once more.

Considering that samus has metroid DNA in her now, is there really any point in bringing actual metroids now? I guess if X parasites were somehow able to infect them it would at least be different from the usual cloning thing.
