Just like with Firefox, the most recent Youtube UI change is always the worst.
In fact most UI updates are shit, as most of them these days just involve changing shit for the sake of changing shit.
And it would all be pointless if you just empower (to use a SJW term) people to customize shit to their taste.

People install extensions specifically to customize websites like youtube. YouTube apparently never thought to themselves that maybe they should offer that feature as standard. Customize your home page, remove all of the Shorts and Recommended algorithm cancer and only show subs/preferred topics.

They used to offer some ways to customize how your channel looks, but then they removed it to "standardize" the "viewing experience" or something. Now all you can pretty much do is pick your banner image.
It's even less inexcusable with browsers, but Mozilla assures you it knows what is best for you.
