As far as I know, Doge has never called himself a filmmaker, and has never claimed that his anniversary movies were intended as stepping stones to some future greatness. If he'd wanted that, he could've tried to leverage his late 2000s-early 2010s success to get on TV like Spoony tried with Jimmy Fallon, or gotten the money to make a legitimate comedy film.

But no, his idea of a creative excursion was making another internet show. Hardly the step one would take to become "a filmmaker".

To Boldly Flee was Doge going full retard with his bloated epic finale for the Nostalgia Critic but the other two were shoestring garbage made to please there fans. Sure they sucked dick but there was never a delusion of grandeur except for Linkara who clearly consider that period the highlight of his life.
