The whole point of the AVGN - especially in the earlier years - is that he's 'dead fucking serious' about crappy games and completely oblivious to how ridiculous he is. Like if Inspector Clouseau had a video game habit.

The AVGN character is a moron who is eternally confused by anything more high-tech than an N64, so it's natural for him to not "get" joke dating sims and otome games.

I'm mostly confused that he picked this shit and not the kino that is Hatoful Boyfriend.

So the Nerd seeing My Horse Prince and taking it at face value is not conceptually wrong. It's just not executed in a very funny way, because James hasn't had his finger on the pulse of comedy for well over a decade.

It would have been funnier if Vaush had made a cameo as the horse prince.
