It's especially bad with Die Hard. There's no quicker way to out oneself as a terminal Plebbit faggot than starting a heated discussion about it being a Christmas movie - aside from telling your parents that your gay.

At least with Die Hard, it kind of makes sense since there is a Christmas party as part of the setting. The Shining has none of that. Even James admits that they move to the hotel at best the 1st week of December and there is nothing to point to Christmas afterwards in the movie
