I doubt it costs them any notable amount of money. They don't seem to market her crap past the first book. Who knows what the print run numbers are of the second book.

Someone on foxdicks works in publishing and has access to Nielson BookScan and puts up the screenshots so it isn't a "My uncle works at Nintendo" situation. The first book's hardcover sold ~34,000, was on the NYT bestseller list for a week. The second book was ~9,000 and didn't break any top ten lists, even Amazon's extremely niche classifications. The fact the books receive no fanfare anymore means the publisher realizes they made a bad deal based only on the fact she was a moderately popular IN and they're only doing this out of contractual obligation.
