That is strange since it can't be a nostalgia thing since Death was mostly a 90s band, and Chuck died in 2001 so it isn't a 20th anniversary thing either. I even tried looking up if it was confirmed that he was gay but nothing on that front either.

I would've thought it was because the second Control Denied album finally got released, but that's not the case because that hasn't happened.

It might be because of Polyphia. The neck tattoo emo weirdos decided to be virtuosos and so they're going back through everything trying to see if anyone can "compete with their skills." They stumble upon Death and find their match. While I don't like Individual Thought Patters and Sound Of Perseverance anymore, the musicianship on everything from Human on is undeniably S-tier.

But just because the musicianship is amazing doesn't mean the songs are. Death songs, especially in the 90s, are very predictable: riff verse chorus verse chorus solo chorus dead stop.

No argument there. I haven't given their other albums many spins. Spiritual Healing is tainted to me because it's what was recommended to me waaaay back then when I was a 100% Thrasher kid and hadn't heard any Death Metal ever. Thought it wasn't good.

He should've recommended me Possessed's Seven Churches instead. Or just Scream Bloody Gore.

By the usual suspects I mean Fin, Fagtano and other gay music channels.
Just today in the supermarket I saw a Metal magazine with a full Leprosy cover as well. It's just odd that a dead band seems to get pushed a lot now.

I don't mind Spiritual Healing (well, I don't mind half of it), but it is absolutely not the first Death album I would recommend to any persuasion on metalhead. I would say that is one of the last albums you get/listen to and even then it's only to complete the collection.

You can imagine it stood out with that colour. I wasn't even browsing magazines, just saw it out of the corner of my eye and was stopped dead in my tracks, having just talked out Death.

I don't even mind the later albums. Sound of Preserverance is progshit but just about the most listenable progshit. Not that I've listened to the entire album.
It could very well be that it's that reason why they get hyped again. Must be the Lorna Shore fans trying to find proper metal.
