Barney and Friends was a pretty awful show. We already had Sesame Street, which was a high-quality production that actually educated children. Barney had none of that. It was 30 minutes of jangling keys in kids' faces. Soulless corporate slop made to sell toys.

The sad thing is, they dumbed Sesame Street down to compete with Barney, shifting the entire focus of the show to that little red retard Elmo.

Those were good, carefree days and we all had fun hating Barney together.

Funny part reading about Barney is that the parents hated the show not for the reasons you think back in the day. It was hated because of how safe it was with zero conflicts. It was pretty much a safe space. That's why they are crying about muh Homophobia and Toxic Masculinity.

I honestly do believe that show did play a part in why the millennial generation are so soft.
The Sesame Street characters did have actual personalities and conflicted with each other. Characters encountered obstacles in their lives to overcome.

All Barney did was sing public domain songs (with inane new lyrics) and dance horribly.
Even the Simpsons gave Barney too much credit:

That documentary sucked btw. It was on board in the first half, but it went off the fucking rails near the last half with talk of Qanon and all that shit. Got really preachy and it wasn't really even about Barney's influence.
