Chris-chan is only considered HFA because, as much of a retard as he is, he can form complete sentences. Lower-functioning autists, like Kugel said, are either completely mute or have very limited verbal skills. Make no mistake: in all other areas of his life, Chris-Chan is far from high functioning. It's still far off from what was considered a regular autist back then. Those aren't just uncommunicative but seem to be almost entirely disconnected from the rest of the world.

See, the problem we really have here is that we've only the word of Chris himself with regards to his condition. The only objective piece of documentation with regards to his condition is an intake survey he took in 2004 when he got suspended from Community College, that he posted on the internet and that describes him as having 'autistic disorder'. We do not have, and will likely never see, the original diagnoses and medical records

I dispute that he's high functioning. You're right that he's not a total retard but I would say that he's mid-functioning at best.

You're getting too hung up on the term, I think. It's obsolete anyway, as I don't believe that term is even used anymore. Nor is it really relevant to CWC specifically anyway. He's heavily autistic, way too far gone for help and in jail for raping his demented mother.

Wether he was accurately diagnosed or not, he wasn't going to get the help he would've needed anyway. His parents just weren't up to give him the required supervision.
