Has there ever been a fighting game with a mandatory story? I'm not even sure you even unlock anything with the Tekken 7 one.

I see cuckson's Tekken copy finally got redeemed by boss. Also I ironically just bought Tekken because it was $6 and a friend wants to teach me to play. I can see why people play on pad because KBD on stick seems impossible right now.

I've also recently reverted back to using a pad for 2D fighters. My new gamepad's analogue stick just isn't really doing it for inputs. Especially diagonals can be a bitch to register.

I went for a hitbox instead. No, electrics aren't trivial with that either, you'll just immediately realize why they are so fucking difficult on stick.
The timing is so ultra precise and not at all DP + punch. It's DP and immediately after punch. A small distinction but a fucked up one, because the punch input is so very close but not exactly on the forward input, which is infuriatingly difficult to learn on buttons.

How close is it? It's not simultanious but yet so close after it that you need to hit punch before the sound of the forward button arrives. So, faster than the speed of sound, yet delayed. That fucked with me so much.

On the other hand, 720s become almost trivial. Like typing a word you've typed thousands of times and could do asleep. Way faster than churning the butter.

Anyway, learning a character doesn't mean shit in Tekken. If you don't know the matchup, you'll get juggled like you've never touched a game before.
