Really wonder what made them kick Ben out then. Were the "creative differences" that he wanted them to do Buu and the rest of the movies, while Kaiserfag wanted to sitcom shit with 3d models?
It's the fact that Ben actually wanted to give back to the community. I don't know if you saw Ben's blog he wrote, but he was pretty straight forward about how he felt on the matter. Ben has always been about unity in the abridged community. The TIBA contest was clearly his idea because he is the only one with actual experience doing contests because he did the "pass gas" contest which was a contest in which everyone did an abridged series starting with "G" in the name, which would get a shout out from him. He really felt that abridging would die with TFS (to which it kinda did), most of the other abridged series & groups have failed to really keep momentum after TFS ended DBZA. Ben felt he owed it to fans to try to keep the sinking ship going because the fans were giving them money & they weren't actually receiving a product.
Considering something like Unabridged is something they were thinking about when Ben was still there, they might have had better plans for it, but when he left the company they had to scrap a lot of the ideas. I think Unabridged failed due to it being long since past their prime, imagine a TFS with Masako, Vegeta3986, Lani, Kaiser, Hbi2k, & Megami, those were the people that the fans actually wanted to see, not Lani, Kaiser & whatever beached whales that washed up on the shore.

This one? I hadn't read it until just now, but he's right about how they weren't in media like Funimation, but just a community. The other guys just want to lord over their dwindling fanbase, forgetting they're closer to their fans than the legitimate dub actors.
They keep forgetting a lot of things.
Like how they're not the "superior" DB writers.
Or like how DBZ didn't become popular due to them.
I feel like TFS are in the same boat as the Funimation VA's. It wasn't Funimation's in-house talent that made DBZ popular to begin with, it was Ocean Studios' voice talent that really got DBZ over until the in-house dub got released, so Funimation really just reaped the benefits of the popularity as it aired. The U.S. fanbase were easier to please, but when the UK got the rights to the Funimation dub, the fans got really pissed at how the voices changed, so they demanded the Ocean dub back because of how inconsistent it was. The fact that Season 1 of DBZA was heavily inspired by Vegata3986's love for the Ocean dub, it just proved that the Ocean dub left more of a mark on the older fans, rather than some of those who were groomed or "forced" to consume the garbage that is Funimation.
Funny you say that. I keep thinking back to Yamcha in DBZA. In Season one, he sound more like the Ocean dub and kind of a bad ass. In the later seasons, he sounds more like Chris Sabat and more of a bitch. It does explain why the quality fell off like Funimation.

Season 1 Yamcha was also more faithful to the manga/anime. Yamcha was a cocky bandit who’s lack of wisdom led to his defeats. He wasn’t just overpowered, he was outwitted or caught off guard. His failures were kind of a parable.
Yeah Post Season 1 Yamcha of Team Fag Star is a wimp. For example, Yamcha would never be scared around Vegeta. He would rather get his butt kicked than do that

Most Dragon Ball "experts" like to go on record to say that based on source material, Yamcha was actually the strongest human in the fight against the saiyans, and the only reason he actually died was due to his arrogance (which does make sense in hindsight). If I remember, Vegeta3986 was voicing Yamcha, and like I said he was a big Ocean dub fan, so it makes sense that he tried to stay close to that with both him and Raditz. Also it's funny to think how Kaiser used to always be about quality, yet he was willing to use the awful orange bricks until people started complaining.
