DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs

Plane lands at Dulles.
They go to Langley.
Then to a comfy office.
There's that sack-o-eggs again.
Cora pines for &.
She'll never ever see him again.
Coffee?
Intel: a few military casualties from falling rocks. The retard room was mowed down.
No bodies, except for a Similar.
A few ROSA people dead.
This is all told, and not shown BTW.
People talking in a room.
More coffee?
Rehash time!
Super-O!
Seas boil!
Protest in DC! Over what? Fuck you, that's what!
Uh oh! A noise from the box!
Sack-o-egg is gone, but in it's place...
The Genome they had brought, the smooth egg sac, was no longer there. In its place was a creature, one that resembled an amygdaline, but this thing was not like the sleek cybernetic creatures they had grown accustomed to. Unlike the others, it had a segmented tail extending from its slender body like a scorpion’s, black beady eyes, even a mouth, a mouth covered with some sort of apparatus that stretched to the gills on its neck, covering it completely.
Before she could even begin to conjecture on what it was, it looked at both of them in turn and screamed.

DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs

The baby is pitiful and screeching. Not quite like &'s kind.
“She doesn’t look completely natural,” said Cora. “She’s got some of the gray amygdaline cybernetic stuff on her head, see?”
“‘She’?” He looked at her with such an incredulity one might have thought she’d proposed to marry the creature.
“Why not ‘she’?” said Cora.
Give it a rest Lindsay.
Guys in hazmats take it away.
The Genome was roughly the size of an eight-year-old girl, and she was being tackled and pinned by half a dozen grown men in hazmats.
Seriously, give it a rest.
They call it Genie. Hurr durr.
Cora tries to communicate with it.
CIA wants it the hell out of Langley.
They drive to the country when...
a bright light flooded her retinas like milk. Her mind went fuzzy, and she was only jerked violently back into consciousness when the van swerved and crashed into a tree.
I'm going to guess that Cora is the momma since finger fucking &.
Anyway, SUV behind them crashes into their van
Genie runs off.
Lil fucker's got da power!
Cora brains Vincent, knocking him out. For reasons.
She takes off after the little fucker.
For reasons.

DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs

Morning!
Aunty found her. SOMEHOW!
“How in God’s name did you find me?” asked Cora, motioning for Luciana to follow her back to the barn.
“I received a text message telling me where you were,” said Luciana, rummaging around in her bag. “I assumed it was you. I’m on the run from the law now, by the way. Well, sort of.”
???
Cora deduced & sent the text.
WHATEVER!!!
Aunty meet Critter.
On to some jackass Aunty knows.
Rehash time!!!!
Oh, Aunty says the retards escaped through a secret tunnel they must have dug.
OK!
The state of the house they pulled up to in Christiansburg, Virginia, confirmed Cora’s suspicion—definitely one of Luciana’s World of Warcraft buddies.
Fuck you.
{quote]The renter of the house was a bachelor’s bachelor, a large, redheaded fellow named Matt.[/quote]
Another Lindsay pedo friend?
Matt told her that a lot of his friends were having a field day with Nils Ortega and ET-gate.
Fuck you again.
Critter is weak.

Part Four
No intro. Weird.

Chapter 34
Coordinates = abandoned warehouse. No idea where it is. Lindsay forgot that part.
A page of warehouse description.
& LIVES!!!! PRAISE OUR MAKER!!!!
You ok, sweety?
Yes, honeybun. Where's the kid?
“Luciana has the Genome. She was alive when I left them.” Cora emphasized she.
Calm down, Lindsay we get it!
& cleans her wounds. For a page.
Critter is weak.
She's not suited for Erf.
Then some pseudo-science babble talk about alien make up. I've got rum, I can't be bothered.
The gist. Obelus wants Critter to win favor in the Super-O.
I want to kill myself for having to have typed that stupid sentence.
Cora wants & to tell her what to do.
How feminist of her. No matter the species, she needs a man to tell her what to do.
Then Cora cries.
The next sentence should be, & was mortified and very uncomfortable.
But no, he rubs her head.
Where the fuck did Aunty go?
Oh, she's back home with Critter. I guess Cora drove up there alone. RUM!
She weeps. He rubs.
A little rehash.
& says he's just misunderstood.
Damn, can Lindsay not see how romance novely clichéd this is?
They embrace.
Ok, Lindsay, you degenerate slut. I'm drunk. If you're going to do the space raptor fucking NOW is the time! I can get through this with my buddy Capt. Morgan!
Perhaps you should have just killed me, Cora!
“Even if I had known exactly how to kill you, I wouldn’t have done it. I don’t … I wouldn’t hurt you.” She noticed he had stopped petting her and had his hands draped across her back, stiff, like he wasn’t sure how to react. “I wanted to protect you. From the moment I first saw you, I wanted to protect you.”
Yes!
Do it, you perv!DO IT!
“You were right,” she said. “About us only being able to understand each other through the prism of our own existence. I want to be able to put you in the right context. The context of your species, of your history. But I can’t help but apply human morality to you.”
Yes! Yes! Context!
“I tried to come back for you,” she said. “Back at Cheyenne Mountain. When I saw what was happening. I tried to come back for you. But Sol’s agents took me. They wouldn’t let me come back for you.”
“I know.” His fingers grazed the palm of her hand, stopping on the back of her palm where the hand met the wrist and then lingering there.
FUCK HER! Fuck her, you demon goblin from outer space!
“Stay on Earth.” Stay with me.
Then...
Politics.
Super-O this.
Super-O that.
Cora closed her eyes. She felt a long arachnoid finger touch the bottom of her chin, tilt her head up ever so slightly, and she opened her eyes to meet his. “It is time for you to go.”

Chapter 35: What a Twist!
DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs
protected by Fair Use, bitch

Cora steps out of the barn and the retard crew are staring at her.
& gives her a translation tablet. Ok.
Cora, we may never see each other again.
Oh noes!!!
Now go!
She runs to the car.
She hears alien screeching!
She heads back to the barn.
But they were gone.
Around the side, two dozen raptors, flat on the ground.
Then she sees & towering over Esperas. He fucked that dude up! No he didn't!
It was Obelus!
3 times the size of &.
Her idiot self had lead Obelus right to them!
Dun dun duuuun!
& just stood there, watching Obelus turn a fool to ash.

& looked at Obelus. Obelus looked at &.
Tablet translated what they said.
[Greetings, BELOVED.]
All right! Faggot albino dragon raptor porn!
That Lindsay! Subverting our expectations!
Esparas called them, liar, betrayer, filth!
And as much as it sickened her, she had come to the same realization that Esperas had. It wasn’t even that Ampersand had known Obelus was coming for them and had kept it entirely to himself. That much was blindingly obvious. No, it went way deeper than that.
Ampersand and Obelus were symphyles.
Fuck buddies?
Ampersand could see her, though, and shot her a brief but intense glare, a look that she couldn’t help but read as, You idiot, I’d kill you if I didn’t know that Obelus was about to do it for me.
They are in cahoots apparently.
But where is the Critter?
& drags Cora's sorry ass around the barn telekinetically.
& keeps Obelus from killing her.
I roll my eyes.
& and Obelus argue over why keep her? All I know, is something better start fucking something, or all this rum is going to waste.
Cora is asked where the Critter is.
She curled up into a fetal position next to Ampersand’s feet, continuing to whimper little “don’t hurt me’s” as she wrapped herself around the tablet at an angle where she could just see the text, trying to walk a fine line between believably panicked and not quite annoying enough to kill.
Obelus moved away from them and observed:
[Histrionic communication vessel.]
Uh.. Obelus goes to Esperas. I don't know what the fuck os going on. A mix of rum and I don't care.
Figure this shit out for yourselves.
Obelus kept on going:
[Why did you not share the truth of my identity / our bond to caste-peer, ESPERAS?]
Ampersand responded:
[It was for your protection, my BELOVED. I did not want INFORMATION revealed to your inferiors that you may not want them to know.]
Obelus spoke again:
[I require insurance you won’t betray me.]
[I require incentive not to betray you.]
[What do you value, BELOVED? There is little in this universe left that you value. But I require more than insurance that you won’t betray me—I require insurance you will not end your own life
He wants Critter. He orders the retards to go get it, and as insurance keeps a few captive.
That includes Cora.

Uh, Cora is in a bag?
After what was probably less than half a day, she began to beat on the shell of the body bag. She had no choice but to soil herself a few times, and the stuffy bag reeked of urine.
Ah. Obelus stuffed her into one. And he removed the tracking device in her head.
She scratches her way out. Smelling like pee pee all the way.
Fuck. 4 more chapters. I'm hungry. Drunk hungry. Should I drive tipsy to McD's or Uber Eats?
Oh, The fucking book.
Uh... pee pee.
She thinks she's in the Pacific Northwest because she sees pines and hears oceans.
Big Mac or Quarter Pounder?
Mmmm. Salty fries sounds good.
Obelus was standing over Esperas who's neck is jacked into like Neo from Matrix.
Pee break. For me. Cora's already peed herself. The nasty whore.
Ubelus comes for Cora now.
He tosses her into some gravity well that the others are being held down by.
Thoughts and fee-fees.
She attempts to rouse Esperas.
Fail.
More thoughts and fee-fees.
Um... work this shit out. I'm drunk, and don't care.
It had always been in the back of her head that if any human killed Obelus or any of his Similars, that would be tantamount to a declaration of war, with humanity as the aggressor. They could save their own lives in the short term only to doom humanity in the long run. But humanity couldn’t be held accountable for the death of a high-ranking militarist if it was revealed that said militarist had been “genetically defective” the whole time. A fraud and, therefore, a traitor. Humanity could claim no accountability in that case.
It might work, if it was his own Similars that killed him.
She reveals that & and Obelus were gay for each other. It causes the two Similars to grumble and argue with each other. Psychically its tugging Cora apart. Somehow. For some reason. She's thrown against a tree as one of them wins the argument.
What?
Obelus returns. He stares down at her.
He injects her. She blacks out.
We end the chapter with a fake article from daddeh. He pleads for his family to be released.

Chapter 37: Die Fart
DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs
protected by Fair Use, bitch

She wakes.
A voice tells her to get up and run. &? Probably.
He instructs her to use the Stewie Grffin devices.
This shit.
Then she saw Ampersand—he was opposite Obelus, and Obelus was talking at him. Not to him, at him, Obelus’s chatter seeming to bounce off his shell while Ampersand just stood there. He seemed helpless and, frankly, indifferent. He was also Genome-less. It would seem that he’d made his decision, and whatever decision that was, Obelus was not happy about it.
I'm still hungry.
The Similars are ripping bitches to pieces, ike the fucking raptors they are. No disintegration bullshit.
The raptor takes Cora's head in his claws.
Bright flash.
Err'body is fucked up on the ground.
Cora takes off running.
She takes a truck.
There's Stewie Devices there.
Critter is in the cab.
It had a device.
The device looked like a high-tech pill bug, legs and all.
Sure. Ok.
Cora drives back to the herd.
One by one she beams them out of there with the Stewie Devices.
Critter starts to revive & with the pill bug.
What a bizarre sentence I just wrote.
She's attempting to roll & onto a plate.
Then she throws up.
Critter steps onto the transport.
& is waking up.
But so is Obelus.
Cora grabs a shovel and beats his ass.
& shrieks,
“You’ll rupture his power core!” said the voice in her ear, much louder than it had ever been. “You’ll kill us all!”
No, she thought. How do I kill this thing
She goes for the neck.
But & knocks her away with his psychic powers.
Obelus charges.
He bitch slaps her.
Her instincts whiplashed from flight to fight in an instant, and she made a feral noise she’d never thought herself capable of, shocking even Obelus as she turned on her back and delivered a kick into the arm that had grabbed her, a blow just powerful enough to make him let go of her ankle.
Cora cried out as she came down on her side, and she thrashed, a lizard ready to lose the limb if it meant saving her life. The other of the monster’s hands came down on her, this time right into her torso, skewering her innards. She was blinded, feeling the threads of her body tear apart like old paper.
Critter, still here, goads Ubelus.
He takes the bait.
Obelus had nearly made it to the Genome before another telekinetic shove sent him off his feet. It was weak and didn’t send him far, barely a stumble, but it was enough for Ampersand to grab the Genome before Obelus did.
“Please!” she begged. Warm liquid was pooling into her hands now.
Ampersand was heading toward her, Genome in tow, pressed up against his shoulder as if she were an infant. Even from this distance, she could hear the Genome struggling to breathe.
The semiautonomous plate was by Cora’s side before Ampersand was, and she didn’t wait for instruction, rolling right onto it, her blood-soaked shirt slapping onto the plate like a wet sponge as she curled into a fetal position. In seconds, Ampersand was on top of her, as was the Genome, and they were all enveloped in darkness.
End of Chapter.

Now about that McDs.

Dammit! Nothing was open. Grabbed some Doritos and a Monster Loca Mocha from a gas station. Damn pnademic.

Uh, they find themselves in a forest. In the mountains maybe.
Cora bleeds. And not from her 'gina.
Critter is fucked up too.
& patches her up. Without anesthesia.
. Cauterize was indeed the word—she could feel the heat, hear her tissue sizzling. Her screams muffled the sound, but nothing could drown out the smell. It was rank, dirty, like burned pork chop.
& now works on Critter.
But... it dies.
Why didn;t you let me kill Obelus?
Because.
Why?
He's my symphyle.
You gay?
Maybe.
The Similars will murder Ubelus. I told them he gay.
Oh noes!
Something, something, then this...
In the flash of agony at being moved, the anger melted into fear. Fear of dying, fear of him dying. Fear of simply him leaving. As fluidly as he picked her up, she put her bloodied arms on his shoulders and then around his back, her fingers smearing even more blood all over him. She placed her cheek on one of the plates where his neck met his midsection. Please, don’t leave, she said in her mind like a prayer. Please, don’t leave.
She hadn’t had her eyes closed for more than ten seconds. When she opened them, Obelus was there, standing over the corpse of the Genome, staring down both of them.

Chapter 39: Fuck You!
DHI Book Club Discussion by pibbs
protected by Fair Use, bitch

PENULTIMATE CHAPTER!!!!!

Opening sentence and what the fuck?
Cora could only imagine how odd the sight of his ex-Oligarch symphyle holding a natural alien as if she were a sacred relic must look to Obelus.
The gobbledy gook of the thingie thing.
& and Obelus sissy talk fight.
She can hear Obelus too now.
“It’s irresponsible of you to even suggest such a thing,” the voice continued. “I cannot allow that. You are too dangerous, both to them and to the Superorganism should you overtake their civilization, which we both know you would.”
Cora drew closer to him, confused, wondering if Obelus was just trying to frustrate Ampersand or stall until his energy returned. Ampersand responded to him in Pequod-phonemic.
“But it is in your nature,” said Obelus. “You were bred to dominate, and you cannot possibly hope for any measure of assimilation without wanting to dominate them. You will inevitably become the Autocrat of this planet. It may take time, decades or even centuries, but you are their superior and far too powerful for them to resist.
Mmm. Cool Ranch Doritos. Usually I don't get Ranch Doritos. You eurofags don't even know what Ranch is do you? Ha! Fuck you.
Obelus monologues for two pages. Horseshit really. Something about & will eventually rule over hooomans and they'll hate him for it.
Four Similars show up. Groggy, but there.
Ubelus spats with them. They want to kill err'body. Ubelus be don't.
They attack Ubelus with a hate crime.
& fucks off into the woods carrying Cora.
Her wounds reopen, they cloak and & stops running.
Cora is drifting off towards death.
She dipped back into the darkness, coming to only long enough to see Ampersand standing over Obelus’s corpse. She tried to call out for him to come back but couldn’t summon the energy. With no voice telling her to stay conscious, she finally gave in.
Insert letter from daddeh to a Keveh.
??? No idea.
Cora won't read his letters, but the boy might be receptive to his shit.
Honestly, I can’t believe the detainment even happened, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t deliriously, miraculously good timing. The detainment gave us momentum, and it would be stupid of me not to ride it. So thanks again, dude. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if there is anything in the world I can do for you. Best of luck with the piece you’re working on. Fuck the Pulitzers, but I do hope you get one.
Your bud,
Nils
