Yeah, so far their strategy has been to make that same movie from 2008-2011 over and over again. But shittier each time. Look at the template created by Iron Man and Avengers.no one in Hollywood knows how to make new goyslop that they'll eat up

That's where his whole argument falls apart though. The YouTube grifters have little to no influence. People didn't see Dial of Destiny because it looked like shit and Harrison Ford is Biden's age. People didn't see Furiosa because Max wasn't in it.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:53 amHe also thinks that these clowns have any effect on anything..
Two main reasons for that:
That has always been acceptable and media criticism hasn't gotten even a tiny bit dumber than it has always been either.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:53 amI agree with Zack's basic argument. The "culture war" has resulted in the most retarded media criticism discource possible.
It's acceptable now to have strong opinions about movies that you've never seen.
The way the algorithms serve you videos, you will have to go out of your way to get out of the situation of being the choir being preached to.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:53 amZack is still struggling with that. He also thinks that these clowns have any effect on anything..
What i know for certain is that i'll never see in theaters something as outstanding and suited to my tastes as John Carpenter's The Thing or Shin'ya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo The Iron Man, so it's pointless to care about movies at all.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:53 amI agree with Zack's basic argument. It's acceptable now to have strong opinions about movies that you've never seen. You saw the trailer. And you made nine videos about your reaction to it.
Me, I just stopped watching these grifters a few years ago

In the end, Richard Meyer is autistic. Like, for real.
That's part of getting old, all of us on here feel that way about movies. The problem is Zoomers don't give a shit about movies either and as Ricky Gervais said, everyone just watches Netflix now. Zoomers grew out of Marvel capeshit faster than Millennials did and Hollywood hasn't found a replacement for the Zoomers, and they have tried with animu adaptations but they've failed.Complicity wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 3:25 amWhat i know for certain is that i'll never see in theaters something as outstanding and suited to my tastes as John Carpenter's The Thing or Shin'ya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo The Iron Man, so it's pointless to care about movies at all.
Because the superior version already exists.
Here's what's different now: Media criticism has become a grift. There are probably earlier examples, but I first recall noticing it with "The Last Jedi". A YouTuber would post their review (and call it, say, *The Last Jedi is a Disaster!") and it would do well for them so they kept going. Next thing you know, they're posting "The Last Jedi is a Disaster! Part 8".Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 8:49 pmThat has always been acceptable and media criticism hasn't gotten even a tiny bit dumber than it has always been either.Lindsay's Liver wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:53 amI agree with Zack's basic argument.
