Spoony is too egotistical to kill himself. He has been a literal joke for years now. If he wanted to kill himself he would have done it by now.

Spoony's just the right level of egotistical that if he knew how to get close but not fully commit enough (but make it look like he didn't purposefully not succeed) he would do it for the attention it'd bring him.

He'd then talk about how much he hated the attention it brought him.
