The thing with most abusers is they're not necessarily more powerful than their targets. They mindcuck their victims into thinking they shouldn't/can't defend themselves. Abusers don't want a fight. They want a victim. Someone who fights back against them is the last thing they want. So they'll avoid going all the way abusing somebody if they smell a lack of fear/subservience.
