It was also the whole hippie time when you could just declare yourself a guru and you'd gather some red-eyed stoners around you.
Manson was mad but he wasn't stupid and had a lot of charisma. Yes, he could've been a big YT success. He'd treat his followers better than many others as well. But really, I'd picture him more as a streamer.

We could only dream to have charisma. No, the Youtuber thing makes sense, he'd make a bunch of ASMR videos and slowly transition them into subtle instructions to murder.
