Ashens tries, I'll give him that much. The results are mixed. His humor gets a little too goofy for what he wants to do, but it always looks professionally shot, low budget wise.

Movie? You talking about his totally retro "radio" drama they did. Because it's totally retro and not because they were forced to do audio because no one could afford to meet up in one place, pay for lodging, food for the crew, cameras etc.
Sure would have been nice to be part of a company that did all that even if the results were subpar. Could have been fun just to hang out with people, work hard, "suffer" setbacks and working problems that happen on low budget indie shoots that would make for great memories, and make something people would enjoy.
