A lot of those arthouse hits didn't have these bloated ass budgets - niche means managing your money better.
Absolutely. Everything from how much money they spent, to how they sold the movie, to where it played would have been handled with more realistic expectations before.

Re: Movie Thread

The "Bros" guy's problem isn't with those awful homophobic straight people. It's with how films with any kind of niche appeal have no next to no chance in today's world. Twenty-five years ago, a movie like "Bros", if it's good, might have done well on the arthouse circuit. Arthouse hits were a thing...

Re: Black Lives Matter?

So, Kanye West wore a "White Lives Matter" hoodie to an event this past weekend and race-baiting leftist Twitter is in a rage. It's interesting how they cling to slogans. The slogan is sacred. You must never change or subvert the slogan even if the change doesn't invalidate the slogan. "White lives ...

Re: Movie Thread

Men don't see rom-coms at all unless a woman drags them to it. And a gay rom-com doesn't interest most women. Women like these stupid movies because they want to imagine that their life is like the one on the screen. Seeing gay men's love lives doesn't have that appeal. So a movie like "Bros" is stu...

Re: Clown World General

Tonight's debate between Greg Abbott and Beto O'Rourke for the fate of Texas was about as exciting as an old lady's tea party. I doubt that anyone changed their mind. Both were slick. Abbott mentioned Joe Biden's handling of the border a lot. O'Rourke hit all of the liberal talking points perfectly....

Re: Mush-Brain Mega-Thread (Brandon and His Presidency)

Retarded thing that I'm seeing on Twitter today: Leftoids praising Joe Biden for providing federal assistance to Florida like it's some extraordinary, saintly thing he's doing and NOT something that ANY President would do or they look like a piece of shit. https://twitter.com/mmpadellan/status/15748...

Re: Dead Celebrities aren't much fun

Coolio is one of those 90s time capsule acts. I hear the name Coolio and I think of 1995. That was a fun year. I was listening to the BBC World Service tonighit and Coolio was one of the top stories. "Two million people in Florida are without power right now after Hurricane Ian battered the Gulf Coa...

Re: Clown World General

I have problems with animal rescue videos in general because I know that SOME of them were made by assholes who put the animal in a bad situation so they could make a cute video of them saving it. I'll watch one occasionally, but I'll watch very critically, looking for signs of shenanigans. A big tu...

Re: Movie Thread

Elizabeth Banks's next movie as a director, out next year, is called "Cocaine Bear". It stars Ray Liotta in his last role. This is the IMDB plot synopsis: It tells the story of a drug runner whose plane crashes with a load of cocaine that's found by a black bear, who eats it. OKAY, I'm listening. I'...
