Tonight I enjoyed the simple pleasure of rewatching the Despecialized 1977 Star Wars. Such a joyful, timeless experience. I love this film.

I may have seen a vhs version of the original when i was a child, because i remember seeing the mclunkey edition and thinking "wait, what's that bullshit? That's not what happened the other time i saw the movie".

Genuinely a childhood memory for me. I would watch them on a home-recorded VHS tape with my family when I was a kid. As an adult, I don't believe I've seen any version free from Lucas' grubby CGI fingers.

The fact Lucas added so much bullshit to the old movies and then made it impossible to watch the theatrical cut is a strong argument that Star Wars was never good.

I think I’ve seen the originals of all three OT movies exactly once. I have original for Empire. That was 60 bucks.

Today, I saw Megalopolis in theaters. I heartily recommend it. I can't say the movie is good, but it's definitely a great meme. The five-minute virgin auction/teen pop song ending with Adam Driver fucking her in front of millions needs to be seen.
