A while back I bought a Blu-ray pack of Treks 2-4. And then they made a better version of 2 and I bought that.
If Paramount ever pulls their head out of their ass and releases good versions of the first 6 films, I will totally buy those on day 1.
But yeah, the director's cuts of 1 & 6 are only on DVD. And Shatner wants to do a Directors cut of 5 to try and finally fix the damn movie. They ran out of money at the time, that's why the effects ended up literally looking like PS1 games. But Paramount won't let him do it.
Shatner is 87 and I'm afraid that he isn't going to live to see the day when Paramount finally pulls its head out of its ass.

Star Trek V was also fucked over by a Hollywood writers strike, which also brought us that shitty clip show at the end of TNG Season 2. Too much went wrong with that movie to ever be fixed in the edit.

I don't know about you all, but I always thought Star Trek V was way more fun than Star Trek VI. Not sure why the latter became so popular when it's all about the stuffy politics that puts TNG to shame.
Whereas Star Trek V, all you have to say is "the Enterprise goes to find God". I'm already sold.

Fixing the FX in 5 and cutting a couple of the dumb comedy scenes would help. Usually they were "Gotta give Chekov/Sulu/Scotty/Uhura something to do" scenes that were pointless.
