Really depends on Tolkien Estate, they probably won't tolerate something worse that the LOTR and Hobbits movies. Oh and if they stick to writing the next thing they'll milk would probably be the Silmarillion since they can make a whole bunch of movies with that.

Jackson could never get away with that now. There was a minor controversy even back in the day when some nobody actresses got turned away because they weren't white. They were offered other creature roles, but they were angry they couldn't be Hobbits or elves.

There's going to be some stupid Tolkien cable TV show coming out and things will be different this time, trust me. They'll have the standard Forced Diversity cast with a black, a Hispanic, and an Asian of some sort. And a gay. Just like everything now.

Force Awakens had a lot to bash too and he just bitched about the prequels the whole time. If Mike really had any balls he'd do TLJ and a redux Force Awakens, but that takes too much effort, if the Plinkett to non-Plinkett ratio says anything.

I just ran the OT through my head and I hate to break it to you but Chewbacca only really did one useful thing during the whole trilogy, which was hijack an AT-ST during Return of the Jedi. He also pretended to be a prisoner twice. (kek)

Chewbacca was there from the beginning to sell toys. He's was just "badass" enough to hide it better than the Ewoks.

Jackson might get away with it, if he wanted to. Apparently when Nolan was casting for Dark Knight Rises, Zoe Kravitz went for the Juno Temple role. They didn't even give her an audition, explaining that they're not going 'urban' for the role.
