To be fair, somebody once sold a piece that was a banana taped to a wall. She more than meets gallery standards, apparently.

There are exceptions, but most of the exhibitions in galleries try to put some effort into it. You can rightfully doubt the quality of what's being shown, but in most cases, some effort went into making it, which can't be said about her pathetic attemps at smearing paint.

As guesfag correctly said, you need to have either connections, or charisma, or talent. So that's a big fat NO to the ice cream devourer.

Once you're in the art world, you can run scams like that because the pretentious twits can never admit the emperor has no clothes. You have to have talent and/or charm to get in in the first place.
